Jaren lang gebruik ik Norton en Freemake Video Converter samen zonder enig probleem. Van de week installeer ik Norton Security opnieuw voor het komende jaar. En nu wordt Freemake Video Converter steeds van mijn computer en laptop verwijdert als zijnde een beveiligings risico. Wat is hier aan de hand?

De afgelopen dagen zijn er meerdere fora waarop bestaande accounts worden overgenomen door spammers. De gebruikersnamen en wachtwoorden zijn via een hack of een lek via andere sites buitgemaakt. Via have i been pwned? kan je controleren of jouw gegeven ook zijn buitgemaakt. Wijzig bij twijfel jouw wachtwoord of schakel de twee-staps-verificatie in.

Exclude Files and Folders From Norton Antivirus Software Scans
These are the steps for excluding custom files and folders from Norton Security Deluxe, but it should work similarly in other versions of Norton's AV software:
Open the Norton antivirus software.
Select Settings.
Choose the Antivirus option from the Settings screen.
Go into the Scans and Risks tab.
Find the Exclusions/Low Risks section.
Click Configure [+] next to the option that you want to make changes to.
There are two sets of options here; one is for exclusions to antivirus scans and the other is for exclusions to the real-time protection features of the Norton software, like Auto-Protect, SONAR, and Download Intelligence Detection.
From the exclusions screen, use the Add Folders and Add Files buttons to make new exclusion rules.
Be sure to click OK in the exclusions window to save the changes.
At this point, you can exit any open windows and even close down or minimize the Norton software.
Important: Only exclude files and folders if you're confident they're not infected.
Excluded items will not be seen by Norton antivirus software, and will therefore not be protected by the program. Anything ignored by the software might end up having viruses later on that the AV application won't know about because they're being excluded from scans and real-time protection.

In principe slaat Norton dus dezelfde weg in als MBAM.
Waarbij beide programma's er aan voorbij gaan dat er ook gebruikers zijn die de meelifters niet mee installeren.
Daarom heb ik in MBAM de detectieinstellingen verandert naar de Gebruiker verwittigen.
Maar ja: AdWare Cleaner en JRT zijn inmiddels ook van Malwarebytes en gebruiken dezelfde detectie instellingen.
Waarbij beide programma's er aan voorbij gaan dat er ook gebruikers zijn die de meelifters niet mee installeren.

Ene kant een goede zaak, andere kant soms vervelend als je een bepaald programma gebruikt zonder adware en het toch wordt geblokkeerd.
Maar misschien dat het is opgelost door het te whitelisten.
